Dorothy Barham, 81, of Springfield died Saturday, September, 30, 2006, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at the United Church of Christ in Springfield. Burial is in the Bon Homme Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield.
Dorothy Barham was born December 28, 1924, at Normal, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Edith (Paige) Diener. Dorothy attained the age of 81 years, nine months and six days.
Dorothy graduated from Champaign High School in Champaign, IL in 1942. She married Wayne Barham on March 7, 1948, at Champaign, IL.
Dorothy was the bookstore manager at USD/Springfield for many years. She also worked her last three years before retirement as the business manager of the athletic department at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion, SD.
Dorothy will be remembered for her love of reading, bowling, golf, gardening, cooking, bridge and spending time at their cabin on Oneida Lake in Wisconsin for the past 50 years.
Thankful for having shared her life are her husband, Wayne Barham, of Springfield, SD; daughter, Diana Barham, of Grand Island, NE; son, Clay Barham, of Springfield, SD; granddaughter, Arianna Genant, of Springfield; and her brother, Don Diener, of Springfield, SD.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Memorials will be directed to the Christian Children's Fund or the Evelyn Lang Public Library.
