The funeral service will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodstock United Methodist Church. Reverend Robert Hoskins will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Edinburg. The family will receive friends from Monday from 1-2 at the church.
Mrs. Johnson was born on July 25, 1919 in Callands, Pittsylvania County, VA, daughter of the late Samuel Gilmore Adkins and Mary Wells Adkins of Roanoke.
She retired from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Washington, D.C. after having served sixteen years the Defense Department at Fort Belvoir. She was a member of Woodstock United Methodist Church since 1983, Edinburg FCE Club, ToVA Quilt Guild and Dorcas Circle Quilters. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Hickman and Mason R. Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin C. Hickman of Alexandria, VA; son, Gary T. Hickman of Philomath, OR; stepson, James R. Johnson and wife Coralee of Little Silver, NJ; two granddaughters and one grandson.
