Ronald N. Palmquist, age 74 years, died on Monday, November 2, 2009 at his residence after a battle with cancer. He was born on September 27, 1935 in Warroad, MN to Helge and Nellie (Christiansen) Palmquist. He was united in marriage to Shirley St. Martin on November 4, 1961 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Ron served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1954 – 1964. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1969 with a Civil Engineer Degree. He had worked for Twin City Testing in Minneapolis before moving to Hartland in 1972 where he worked for Wisconsin Testing, Warzyn Engineering, STS Consultants, and then owned his own business as a consulting engineer from 1991 until his retirement in December 1997. Ron retired to Wisconsin Dells about 11 years ago where he enjoyed the woods, camping, fishing and the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Wisconsin Dells; Daughter, Julie (Kevin) Marti of Oconomowoc; Son, Neil (Kristin) Palmquist of Carbondale, Colorado; 7 Grandchilden, Kyle, Jenna, Leah and Luke Marti, and Anders, Beck and Cole Palmquist; Sister, Lorraine Westley of Bloomington, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Gloria Dillon and Delphine Bowman. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Portage with Rev. Alan Boeck and Rev. Jeffrey Teeple co-officiating. Burial will follow at the Town of Oconomowoc Cemetery in Oconomowoc, WI at 2:30 PM. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
