JAMES ERWIN BRYANT JR., 82, of Cass City Michigan, formerly of Monroe, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 in his home with his loving family by his side. He was born May 25, 1932 in Monroe Michigan, the first of eight children born to James Erwin Sr. and Alwilda (Burt) Bryant, he married Bonnie Lou Lee, Friday, November 13, 1959 in Norman, OK.

Jim graduated from Monroe High School and then attended Lee College in Cleveland, TN, studying to be a minister. He ministered at the Church of God in Clifton, Arizona and in Purcell, Oklahoma. Jim continued to evangelize until his health would no longer let him in 2004. Jim worked as a social worker for the State of Michigan in Monroe for over 32 years retiring in 1995. His main focus was always on educating young people so they could get back to work and on their feet.

Jim loved learning about Civil War history, collecting books and memorabilia, and visiting Civil War sites. He and Bonnie collected baseball cards over the years and enjoyed watching professional baseball games, traveling to many other states to watch games. Jim was a member of the Monroe Kiwanis club, giving them 32 years perfect attendance. He was a member of Gideons for years and helped with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Easter Seals. Jim had a very generous heart. He continued to study the bible and prayed for many people both living and remembered. In the last few years, Jim lived for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He cherished the weekly family gatherings.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children: Melody (Jack) Benschoter of Metairie, LA, Jeptha (Angela) Bryant of Cass City, Robin Phillips of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren: Tara (Mark) Fibranz, Tasha (Jesse Rader) Bryant, Stephen (April Lajti) Kekes, Bethany Kekes; great grandchildren: Josh, Kelsey, Alexis, Zoe, Gracie, Addie, Dakota, Joslynn, Blake, Cheyenne, Sydney, Addison and Ally; brothers: Jepp (Sophie) Bryant of Livonia, John (JoAnn) Bryant of Woodhaven; sister, Alwilda Bryant Churchill of Glendale, AZ; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brother, Charles Bryant; sisters: Mary Ann Eder, Jenny (Lloyd) Porter, Shirley "Joey" (Wayne) Wagner.

Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home , Cass City with Pastor Alfred Whittaker of Victory Temple Church of God in Monroe, Rev. Mark Fibranz of Living Word Worship Center, and Pastor Mark Karwowski of Living Word Worship Center officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Bryant: Mark Fibranz, Jesse Rader, Josh Fibranz, Luke Whittaker, Robert Whittaker and Jeffrey Whittaker. Memorials may be made to Living Word Worship Center.
