James Daymond Little, 68, of Lynchburg, lost his battle with lung cancer on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Iris Arrington Little for forty-four years.

Jim was born on May 14, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a son of the late Paul Daymond and Mary Aljean Little. He was retired from the Old Dominion Job Corps Center with twenty-two years of service. He was a dedicated member of the Boonsboro Fire Department and Rescue Squad for more than thirty years, and he was currently on the Board of Directors.

Jim honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. While his sons were growing up, he was a coach for the Boonsboro Dixie Youth Baseball league.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles; brother-in-law, Otis; sisters-in-law, Della and Barbara; niece, Shelly Little; nephews, Dennie Jr. and Brian; and great-nephew, Kevin.

He is survived by his wife, Iris; sons, Mark and Shawn; grandchildren, Paige (Charlie) of Ohio, Tyler, Alex, Amber, and their mother Amy of Hurt; great-grandson, Charles Alexander of Ohio; brothers, Bob and Mike of Illinois, and Larry (Debbie) of Missouri; brothers-in-law, Pete (Dot), Bob, Dennie (Bea), and Charles (Barbara) Arrington; sisters-in-law, Dot Sandifer, and Peggy (Butch) Tyree; and special nephews and nieces, including Dwayne, who was more like a son to Jim and Iris.

Thank you to family and friends for their love and support during Jim's illness. Iris thanks her many friends at RST Marketing, especially Sharon Brooks, who called every day to check on them.

A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg with the Rev. Steve Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Gilead Methodist Cemetery.
