LANYON:—Wm C. Lanyon died at the Saints' Home of quick consumption on the evening of December 13, 1907, aged 68 years, six months, and 21 days.

Eight weeks and two days before his death he did painting at the Herald Office. That night he was taken with hemorrhage of the lungs, and gradually failed.

He was born in Philadelphia in 1839. Early In the 40s the family removed to Nauvoo, Ill., returning east in a few years and locating at Pittsburg, Pa. Later they came to Little Sioux, Ia., and still later William came to Keokuk, Ia., where he married.

Of eight children five, three sons and two daughters survive him. The daughters live here and were present at the funeral. One son is in Illinois, the residences of the other two are unknown. All three sons were in the Cuban or Japanese Wars.

Mr. Lanyon and family came to Decatur County in 1874. He did the first painting in Lamoni in 1879 and in early years did much work here and about here.

His brother Frederick and daughter, of Creston, Ia., arrived Sunday and were in attendance at the funeral Monday. The funeral services were conducted at the Home Monday afternoon in charge of Elder John Smith. Elder R. M. Elvin offered prayer, and the sermon was by Elder H. A. Stebbins. The burial occurred at Rose Hill.
