Herb was united in marriage to Margery Comstock on June 5, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lewiston. He lived in Portage where he was a lifelong dairy farmer, operated Schultz Home Dairy until 1984, continued farming until retiring in 1998 and then assisted his son at Schultz’s Small Engine. Herb was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and mowing lawn. He had also served in the United States Army from 1954 – 1956.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Margery of Portage, son Donald (Gail) Schultz of Portage, daughter Janice (Robert) Schultz-Willcox of San Diego, 3 grandchildren Michael, Matthew and Ashley, brother Russell (Florence) Schultz of Portage. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Portage with Rev. Alan Boeck officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Portage at a later date. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage on Friday from 4 – 7 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Portage FFA Scholarship. Special thanks to Dan Pulsfus and the nurses at Tivoli and Divine Savior.
