Orville Dexter Dickson, 86, of Rushville died Monday at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

A Rush County resident most of his life, he retired in 1979 from Philco-Ford in Connersville after 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a member of the American Legion in Rushville and a member of Plum Creek Christian Church. He was born March 21, 1914, in Fayette County, a son of James and Mary Louise Spotnagle Dickson.

He is survived by four sons, David A. and William J., both of Rushville, Ronald O. of Greensburg and Bruce W. of Lebanon; one daughter, Ellen (husband: Robert) Herbert of Indianapolis; a brother, Francis Dickson of New Castle; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Lee, whom he married June 4, 1941 in Henry County, and who died February 22, 2000; three sisters and four brothers.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Moster and Cox Mortuary in Rushville with Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville.
