Death of Levi Etter
Levi Etter, a pioneer of the western part of the county, died Wednesday morning at 1:00 at his home in Providence. His death was due to the infirmities of old age. He had been ill for a number of years with heart trouble and complications.
Mr. Etter was born in Morgan county and was in his eighty-fourth year. His life had been spent in Morgan and in Johnson county in the vicinity of Providence. He is survived by his widow and four children, who are Frank D. Etter, William H. Etter and Mrs. Joseph Miller of Johnson county and J. E. Etter of Bloomington, Ill. He was the last member of his family.
The deceased had been a member of the Providence Christian church and took an active part in the work of the church until in recent years when he was compelled by his illness to give up church activities.
In the death of Mr. Etter, the western part of the county has lost a man that was greatly interested in all that pertained to the highest welfare of the community. He was an earnest Christian man and lived the life of the Golden Rule. He leaves a large number of friends who today mourn with the family the passing of a man that had influenced them for good throughout a life that was always genial and kind.
