Samuel was the son of John Webb and Ann Kay.

On July 15, 1852 in Habergham-Eaves, Lancashire, England he married Alice Holcroft Shepard, daughter of Crossley Shepard and Margaret Holcroft. It was Samuel's 2nd marriage but I can't verify any info on his 1st marriage.

They immigrated to the U.S. after their 2nd child, John, was born in 1856-57 and settled in the Lawrence area. The 1900 census incorrectly lists immigration year as 1855, but they were here before the 1860 census.

Samuel became a naturalized citizen on Oct 22, 1867 in Salem, MA.

Their children were Thomas S, John Ernest, Albert E, Ella, Clara, May/Mary E, and Edgar J.

Thomas and John were born in England; the rest were born in Lawrence, MA.

Alice died in Jan 1870 after giving birth to Edgar.

On Nov 12, 1870 in Lawrence he married Catherin P. "Katie" Leavitt, daughter of Joseph Leavitt and Catherine P. Peverly.

They had no children, but she raised his children from his previous marriage.

Occupations: 1860 a Pedlar, 1861 a Grocer, 1870 Boarding house keeper and Mechanic, 1880 Overseer in Woolen Mill. By the 1900 census he was 76 years old and retired.

Samuel was predeceased by 2nd wife, Alice, in 1870; 8 month old son Albert in 1861; 3rd wife Katie in 1908.
