Sarah was the daughter of Burt Whitson (1792 - 27 Aug 1875) and Mary Ann (Knight) Whitson. In the 1850 U.S. Census, Burt was living in Berkeley County, (now) West Virginia.

Sarah married James W. Moore (born 1819/20) on 10 Feb 1846 in Berkeley County, (now) West Virginia. James was born in Maryland or Virginia.

In the 1850 and 1860 U.S. Censuses, James and Sarah were living in Berkeley County, (now) West Virginia.

Mary A Gillgore Moore (born c.1830) was living with them in 1860. She was born in Pennsylvania.

In the 1870 and 1880 U.S. Censuses, Sarah was living in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia. Her father was living with her in 1870.

Sarah died of Consumption at the age of 64 years, 25 days.

In the 1880 U.S. Census, Francis and Rebecca were living with her mother. Rebecca [2nd] married J. Wolf (born c.1850) on 21 Feb 1889 in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia. He was the son of William H. and H. Wolf. Rebecca was a widow and j. was a widower at the time of their marriage.
