Vera Mae Hall, 93, lifelong resident of Honey Grove, Texas passed away peacefully in the Honey Grove Nursing Center February 21, 2015. Funeral services will be held at the Honey Grove McKenzie Methodist Church on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Vivian Crowson presiding.

Named as pallbearers are: Ken Hall, John Hall, Rick Hall, Charlie Fajardo, Connor Hall and Mark Fajardo.

Honorary pallbearers are Billy Bob Stephens, Otho Bowmer, James Albert Dawson and Mike Wilson.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove. Family visitation is scheduled for 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Vera Mae was born in Bonham, Texas on October 6, 1921 to Walter H. King and Laura (Davis) King. She married Grover "Clyde" Hall of Honey Grove on June 25, 1939 and celebrated 71 years of happy marriage prior to his death in 2011.

Prior to her marriage, she attended high school in Bonham and won awards for art, tennis, and gymnastics. Her grades were excellent and she was chosen by several teachers to be a teacher assistant. After marriage she became a farmer's wife, homemaker and mother to three children. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, macramé, crocheting, gardening and being a leader in the PTA, Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls and Blue Birds.

In 1955 Vera Mae began a 12-year sewing career with Nahas of Texas in Paris. Clyde and Vera moved off the farm into Honey Grove and she pursued a business education degree at Northeast Texas Business College in Paris, Texas and graduated with top honors.

Vera Mae worked as School Secretary for several school districts including the Honey Grove Summer Schools as well as being the bookkeeper in the tax office. In 1971 she and Clyde bought the Western Auto Store in Honey Grove, Texas.

In 1986 Vera Mae became director of the Honey Grove Senior Nutrition Assistance Program Center in Honey Grove and served in this capacity for 20 years until her final retirement. She and her husband very active in the McKenzie Methodist Church in Honey Grove and were named citizens of the year for the town where they had lived, volunteered and served.

Vera Mae Hall is survived by her 2 sister-in-laws, Mrs. Jack Hall (Ima Jean Riddles Hall) of Arlington and Joann (Hall) Dufilho of Mills River, NC and her 3 children: King Hall and wife Polly of Bonham, Toby Hall and wife Jo of Mineola, Linda (Hall) Paraschak and husband Harry of Fremont, CA.; 7 grandchildren: Ken Hall & wife Kristine, Susan (Hall) Farjardo and husband, Charlie, Jon Hall and wife Hayley, Annetta (Jones) Wilson and husband Mike, Rickey Hall and wife Jamie, Tressa Hall, and Chuck Lyles. 15 great grandchildren: Conner, Collin, Callum Hall, Kylee and Kameon Kittrell, Mark and Marisa Fajardo; Will and Marie Hall; Waverly Wilson; Ashley Larsen and husband and Cory, Jordan Hall, Zack and Zane Brown and Alex Lyles, . One great-great grandchild: Kyler Larsen.

She was preceded in death by Clyde Hall her husband of 71 years, her parents and all of her 7 siblings. Vera Mae's warm heart and beautiful smile endeared her to everyone. She was truly a Southern Lady who had style and will be missed by her family and many friends.
