James D. Peurifoy, 55, died Thursday morning in .a Columbia hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Saluda, a son of the late Brooks and Christine Proctor Peurifoy.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Spearman of Ninety Six, Mrs. S. L. Herring of Anderson and Mrs. Frankie Johnson of Elberton, Ga.; three stepsisters, Mrs. Frank Poore of Elberton, Ga., Mrs. Luther Wiley and Mrs. L. B. Hasting of Greenwood; four brothers, C. E. Peurifoy of Greenwood, T. W. Peurifoy of Anderson, the Rev. Harvey O. Peurifoy of Allendale and'W. L.Childs of Anderson; four stepbrothers, Alton Childs of Elberton, Ga., Eugene and Robert Childs of Greenwood and Bunyon Childs of Ninety Six.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. today at Harley Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. James Stroud.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Ninety Six.
