Billy Dean Edmonds, age 77 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Friday February 20, 2015. He was native of West Frankfort, IL, and was preceded in death by his father, George E. Edmonds.

Mr. Edmonds is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay Rains Edmonds; mother, Pauline Morgan Edmonds of West Frankfort, IL; son, Eric Edmonds, and his wife Lisa of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Dena Chapman, and her husband Bob of Dahlonega, GA, Kara Alford, and her husband Bill of Coral Springs, FL; sister, Gloria House, and her husband, Ray of West Frankfort, IL; brother-in-law, Richard Rains, and his wife Jackie of Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Cody Edmonds of Murfreesboro, TN, Cale Chapman, and his wife Cailan of Gainesville, GA, Taylor Alford of Coral Springs, FL, Nick Alford of Coral Springs, FL, Erica Edmonds of Murfreesboro, TN, and Morgan Maxwell, and her husband Ty of Dahlonega, GA.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Polk and Steve House officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. Cody Edmonds, Cale Chapman, Taylor Alford, Nick Alford, Andrew Rains, and Tim Rains will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Redding, Dan Barker, Jerry Hays, John Williams, Carl Zech, Jack Spence, Richard Rains, Ray House, Ray Hawkins, and Jim Dunlap.

Mr. Edmonds was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He was a retired Master Sergeant of the US Air Force after 23 years of service, having served in Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. Mr. Edmonds was also a retired State Farm agent in Washington, Indiana.

Mr. Edmonds lettered in basketball and served as his class Vice President. He earned an Associate’s Degree of Science at the Community College of the U.S.A.F. He was a former member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Washington, IN, where he served as Elder and Deacon. Mr. Edmonds was a Master Mason and a member of Lincoln Mason Lodge #19 in Lincoln, NE, a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite in Evansville, IN, and a member the Hadi Shriner’s Temple in Evansville, IN. He was president of the Knox County Motor Patrol where he served as president of the Knox County Shrine Club in 1981. Mr. Edmonds was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, and life-time member of the Disabled American Veterans.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, the Disabled American Veterans, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Mr. Edmonds.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses, and staff of the Alvin C. York 1 B Hospice, for the love and care they gave to Mr. Edmonds and his family.
