  Isabelle Bernadine Weiler Rasplica, age 93, a life long resident of Glen Carbon, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009.
  A New Year's Baby, she was born on Jan. 1, 1916, in Glen Carbon, the youngest daughter and ninth child of the late Bernhardt and Barbara Isabelle Wolf Weiler.
  She married William Martin Rasplica on Sept. 27, 1937, in St. Charles, Mo.  She moved two blocks from her childhood home to her married home where she lived the remainder of her life. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1993.
  She was survived by two daughters, three grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Carol Rasplica Ammon; five sisters Lillian Sedlacek Hoerchler, Anna Poneta, Hilda Kovarik, Kathryn Borchwardt and O'Linda Ahlmeyer; four brothers Raymond, Kermit, Edward and George Weiler.
  A homemaker, she also was employed as the U.S. Mail courier between Glen Carbon and Edwardsville for a number of years and operated a satellite collection office for Illinois Power Company in Glen Carbon during the '50s. A lifelong member of the Glen Carbon United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Ladies Quilting Circle, Friends of the Yanda Cabin and served as commissioner on the Glen Carbon Historical Commission for 10 years. She also served many years as the pianist for the Glen Carbon Kiwanis Club and was awarded honorary membership in the club at a time when women were not members. She was a past member of the Madison County Home Bureau, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Glen Carbon Fire Department and served as a 4-H leader in Glen Carbon.
  Funeral arrangements were handled by Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon.
