Nellie was born to Milton R & Mary C Vallance Caudill in 1914, the 7th of eight children. She had blonde ringlets and blue eyes. She died in her fourth year from whooping cough. My grandmother was only a year older than Nellie, but had clear memories of her. Nellie was named for her great grandmother, Eleanor "Nellie" Estep Caudill, wife of Jesse Franklin Caudill. Nellie was buried in Rude cemetery in an unmarked grave.
