John Joseph Abreu Sr. of Attleboro, a former mechanic and bartender, died Sunday at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
He was 45.
Born, raised and educated in Pawtucket, R.I., he lived there until moving to Attleboro five years ago.
Mr. Abreu was a mechanic for Fuller Packaging in Central Falls, R.I., from 1989 until becoming disabled in April 2005. He was also employed part time for seven years as a bartender at VETS in Pawtucket.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Attleboro.
A sports enthusiast, Mr. Abreu loved the Boston Red Sox and the San Francisco 49ers.
He is survived by his wife, Kendra Jo (Meyer); his parents, Joseph Nicholas Sr. and Doris Angelina (Dupere) of Pawtucket; five sons, Cody J. of Attleboro, John Joseph Jr., Michael C. and Kevin, all of Coventry, R.I., and Jeffrey of Pawtucket; two daughters, Tracey of Coventry and Brittany of Pawtucket; two sisters, Donna Santilli of Warwick and Laurie Kane of Attleboro; a brother Joseph N. Jr. of Pawtucket; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Joseph's Church, Attleboro.
Burial will be private.
