Elder Luther Fletcher Abrams, age 88 of Fairfield Township, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 12:00 PM. He was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky on June 5, 1926 the son of John Henry and Stella (Young) Abrams. Luther was employed as an engineering tech at Advanced Drainage Systems for eighteen years, retiring in 1991. On September 24, 1948 in Richmond, Indiana he married Ellen Lakes. He was a member of Zion United Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946; a member of the SeaBees; and he pastored at several United, Primitive, and Old Regular Baptist Churches for more than forty years.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Abrams of Fairfield Township; three children, Terry (Angie) Abrams of Fairfield Township, Brenda Kay Abrams of Fairfield Township, and Lisa Abrams of Fairfield; five grandchildren, Travis (Kim) Abrams, Chris (Kathy) Abrams, and Deanna (Brandon) Michaud, Craig (Nicole) Bryant and Dexter (Courtney) Bryant; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers, Cash Johnson and Darrell Johnson; and two sisters, Nell Jo Nieman and Barbara Sue Merrill. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandra Abrams; and three siblings, Leo and Burgess "Bud" Abrams, and Mildred Harrison.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Derrick Lay of Zion United Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
