Sarah White, daughter of Arch White and Anna Rebecca Drace, married Theodore Dreiser, son of John P Dreiser and Sarah M Schnepp, on December 28, 1898, in Washington D.C. In 1900 and 1910, they were living in Manhattan, New York, where Theodore was a magazine editor. In 1920, they were living in Los Angeles, California, where he was a writer. By 1930, Theodore was an author and living back in Manhattan, New York, with a woman named Helen Richardson. By 1940, he and Helen were still together and living in Los Angeles, California. They married on June 24, 1944, in Skamania, King County, Washington, after his wife Sarah died in 1942, in St Louis, Missouri. The informant for Sarah's death certificate claimed that she was married to Theodore at the time of her death. She died from cancer at the Deaconess Hospital, St Louis, Missouri. At that time, she had been a resident of Webster Groves, Missouri, for three months.
