Carl's life began on August 18, 1934 in Eureka; the son of Clinton O. and Catherine (Simmons) Barrier. He is a graduate of Eureka High School. Carl served his country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Frances Seimears on August 15, 1952 in Eureka. Carl retired from Beech Aircraft as a foreman after 45 years of service. He enjoyed all things mechanical, especially his antique Pontiac and Plymouth. He was a member of the Bluestem Car Club and the MOPAR Club in Wichita. Members of both car clubs are encouraged to bring their cars to Carl's memorial service on Saturday Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Carlson Chapel (200 S. Star) in El Dorado. Drivers are encouraged to park their vintage classics along Star Street in front of the funeral home in honor of Carl starting at 1 p.m. In addition to his automobile passion, Carl and Frances raised chickens, ducks and geese. He is survived by his wife Frances of the home, daughter Carla (Marcia McCoy) Barrier of El Dorado, his canine companion Toby, sister Evelyn Walford and brother Glenn (Sondra) Barrier, and several nieces and nephews. Carl passed away on February 19, 2015 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Sharon Kay Barrier/Woods, Elwin Earl Barrier and Harold Dean Barrier. Memorial contributions in Carl's name may be directed to the Alzheimer or Lung Associations. Kirby-Morris Funeral Home is serving the family.
