Robert E. Freeman

Robert Ersel “Bob” Freeman, of Eureka, died on February 18, 2015 at the Eureka Nursing Center at the age of 88.

Bob was born on June 22, 1926 in Hamilton the son of William Ersel and Myrtle Leona (Osmundson) Freeman. He was raised in Quincy and attended local schools. The family then moved to Hamilton and later Eureka. In May 1944 Bob joined the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge in 1946 he returned to Eureka before moving to California for a short while. Bob then returned to Eureka and worked as a finishing carpenter until his retirement.

In October of 1946 he was united in marriage to Martha Allan. This marriage later ended in divorce. On June 24, 1960 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Carson in Hamilton, Kansas.

Bob was a member of the VFW Post #2712 and helped organize the American Legion in Eureka.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Freeman of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Lois Ball.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 23, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Mr. George Carson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton.
