John Robert Leslie, 79, of Milan, Missouri, died Friday, February 6, 2015 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
John was born July 3, 1935 in Milan to Marion Franklin "Bob" and Margaret (Payne) Leslie.
On December 24, 1966 in Milan he married Barbara Sue Bonnett and to this union two sons were born, John Benjamin Leslie and Franklin Gene Leslie.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Leslie of the home; two sons, John Leslie, Sr. of Milan and Franklin Sr. and wife, Laurie Leslie of Green City, Missouri, a daughter-in-law Dena Mitchell of Green City; four grandsons, Franklin Jr. and wife, Cecelia Leslie of Higbee, Missouri, Michael and wife, Ashley Leslie of Green City, Colby Leslie of Green City, and Benjamin Leslie of Green City; four great grandchildren, Mason Lee, Layden Michael, Devin Levi, and Rylan Jay; one brother, Don Ivan Leslie of Milan; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three grandchildren, Benjamin John Leslie, Natasha Rae Leslie, and Brittany Nicole Leslie; one brother, Marion Russell Leslie; and one sister, Billy June (Leslie) McConkey.
John worked for John Cowgill on the farm and for several years at Stampers in Milan. He also drove a school bus in Milan. John enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, horseshoes, and playing pitch. Most of all he enjoyed with his family and he dearly loved his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
