Gottlieb "Guy" Wiedrich, 86, Beulah, died Jan. 22, 2005, surrounded by his family, at a Hazen medical center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Toby Heller officiating. Burial will be at Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Gottlieb "Guy" Wiedrich was born Nov. 25, 1918, on the home farm north of Zap. He was baptized Dec. 25, 1918, confirmed in April 1933, and married Agnes Mettler March 15, 1942, all at St. John Wittenburg, north of Zap. Guy entered the Navy in the fall of 1942, and was a Seabee in the African Theatre. He survived through two sinkings of his ships and was discharged in 1944. Guy came back to Beulah, and lived there for 10 years, operating the Main Bar along with other various jobs.

In 1954, he sold the bar and moved to Minot, where he bought and operated the Ranch Motel. While living in Minot, he belonged to many organizations and acquired and operated other businesses. He was a member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minot where he held many offices. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Curling Club in Minot. He worked for the Urban Renewal Dept. after Minot flooded in 1969. In 1974, Guy and Agnes moved back to Beulah where he was active in the Beulah Fire Department for 10 years. Guy was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church since 1974, and was the church council president for 13 years. He held various positions through the years and was on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Synod District for 10 years. He was the chairman of the Beulah Chamber of Commerce. He also started and was the first Commander of the VFW Club in Beulah. Guy worked in mobile home sales and was the owner and active in land development with Century Land and Realty. Guy was proud of his donating blood to the Blood Bank. He received a "Life Time Award for Giving" after donating six gallons throughout the years. After retirement in 1984, he and Agnes began traveling. They traveled abroad and around the United States many times. They became snowbirds and lived in Mesa, Ariz., during the winter months for 15 years.

Guy loved hunting and fishing with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling and loved to teach his grandchildren different games. He was known as a very avid card player, especially in gin and pinochle. His favorite times were when his children and grandchildren came home to visit.

Guy is survived by his wife, Agnes; five children, Dwight and Lana Wiedrich, Lino Lakes, Minn., LaVaun and Ron Mackey, Minot, Lana Wiedrich, Sioux Falls, Jan and Don Ivey, Oklahoma City, and Blair and Tammy Wiedrich, Beulah; nine grandchildren, Katja Wiedrich Hagar City, Wis., Andrew Anderson Reno, Nev., Jason Wiedrich, Hastings, Minn., Robb Wiedrich, Rochester Minn., Justin Wiedrich, Fargo, Nicholas Wiedrich, Beulah, Brittani Ivey, Oklahoma City, Alyson Wiedrich, Beulah, and Nate Wiedrich, Beulah; eight step-grandchildren; one sister, Erna Sasse, Wilton; one brother, Leo Wiedrich, Dickinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ella Reinhardt Kruckenberg, Alma Bauer, and Lillain Morin; and one brother, Walter.
