Daughter of Charlie Edgar Stonecypher and Lillie Belle Buice. Wife of Lewis Carroll Blankenship.

Lillie Mozelle Blankenship went home to be with our wonderful Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 with her loving family at her side. While she passed due to an extended illness, she relied on the Lord to comfort her until it was her time to be called home. She was born December 6, 1925 in Suwannee, Georgia to Charles and Lillie Belle Stonecypher, the second youngest of eight children. She moved to Rochelle with her family as a child and lived there until she married the true love of her life, Carroll. She was active in World War II being one of the original "Rosie-the-Riveters." They moved to Statesboro in 1958 where they purchased and operated a successful restaurant. Mrs. Blankenship was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Camilla Boyd Sunday School Class. She enjoyed gardening, being with her family and helping others. She believed in staying busy at all times, if not doing for herself then busy helping someone else who was in need. While her life included many chapters-being wife, mother and grandmother, she found completeness in being GiGi.
Loved ones left to remember her are a beloved daughter and son-in-law Reneau and David Tompkins of Statesboro her loving son and daughter-in-law David and Paulette Blankenship of Eastman, GA. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and their spouses: Farris and Diana Tompkins of Statesboro; Luci and Chris Harvey of Brooklet; Amanda and Cody Payne of Dublin; Abbi and Clay Barker of Suwannee and step-grandchildren Josh McCrannie and Leslie Wilkinson of Eastman. Although her children and grandchildren brought much joy to her life, her great-grandchildren were the lights in her life: Emerson and Olivia Tompkins; Sierra, EmmaLeigh and AnnaBelle Harvey, and Noah Payne. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Carroll Blankenship, all of her brothers and sisters, and many other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. Family member will receive visitors one hour prior to the funeral hour starting at 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Thursday, February 19th in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Dr. John Waters officiating. Interment will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be nephews. Her Sunday school class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Ogeechee Area Hospice for their loving compassion during the last few weeks.
