John Alan Abernathy, 54, of McLouth, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at his home.
He was born June 23, 1960 in Leavenworth, the son of Lloyd Elum and Shirley Ann Hill Abernathy. He graduated from McLouth High School in 1978. John worked as a groundskeeper for Hallmark for over twenty years before retiring in 2012. He married Mary Ellen Roberts on June 23, 1979 in Tonganoxie, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Daniel Abernathy, one daughter, Alicia Carter, Bonner Springs, and two brothers, Kevin Abernathy, McLouth, Warren Abernathy, Leavenworth.
Cremation is planned. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 21 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa (1220 Walnut). Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS 66066.
