Joel Wright Gibbs, of Hewitt, a clinic administrator and marketing representative, died Thursday at his home. He was 28.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum, the Rev. Mike Toby officiating.

Mr. Gibbs was born Feb. 4, 1967, in Walnut Creek, Calif. He attended Wheaton North High School in Wheaton, Ill., where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball.

He graduated from Baylor University in 1990 with a bachelor of arts degree in business. He earned a master’s degree of business administration from Baylor in 1992

During his academic career, he was elected secretary of the MBA program and student representative to the Graduate Student Association. He also was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, a national honor society of economics, and Beta Gamma Sigma, a national honor society for business majors.

While attending Baylor, he worked at the Providence Health Center admitting department for three years. He was currently employed as the clinic administrator and marketing representative of Waco Magnetic Imaging.

Mr. Gibbs served on the Central Texas Medical Administrators Board and the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also supported the Baylor Athletic Association.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodway, where he was a former Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include a son, Andrew Femrite Gibbs of Hewitt; a daughter, Ashley Colleen Gibbs of Hewitt; his parents, Eugene Gibbs and Judith Wright Gibbs, both of Ashland, Ohio; a brother, Warren Gibbs of Carbondale, Ill.; a sister, Amy Gibbs of Normal, Ill.; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Everett Gibbs of Chico, Calif.
