Lyman, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend Vanor Okerlund, (Okie to his friends), age 78 of Lyman, passed away on February 16, 2015 in his home in Lyman, Utah.

He was born on October 10, 1936 in Lyman, a son of Rulon Ole and Zelda Sophia Albrecht Okerlund. He graduated from Wayne High School with the class of 1954.

Vanor married Gloria Giles on September 4, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They later divorced.

He then married Phyllis Merlene Eastin, and they later divorced.

He married Dorthy Christensen on November 1, 1986 in Lyman, and they lived happily together.

Vanor was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. Vanor was active in his beloved community. He served as Mayor of Lyman for eight years and was a very dedicated public servant. Through his public service, and through the various contraction deals which he managed, he build and maintained many cherished friendships.

Vanor loved to sit outside and watch the world. He liked to hunt and fish, and he enjoyed working on his truck "Ole Blue" and other old vehicles.

He is survived by his wife Dorthy Christensen Okerlund of Lyman; his children: Randy Okerlund of Bicknell; Lynda and Joe Brown of Loa; Kerrie and Casey Alton of Price; Pegie and Seth McCourt of Cortez, Colorado; Brandon and Wendy Okerlund of California City, California; Brenda Martinez of Magna; Phillip Montoya of Magna; his siblings: Elaine Chestnut of Torrey; Clenn and Evelyn Okerlund of Lyman.

Vanor was preceded in death by both of his parents; his son Gary Vanor Okerlund; his great-granddaughter Abigail Buchanan; his brothers: Gerald Okerlund; Elvin Okerlund; his brother-in-laws: Jay Chestnut; Keith Christensen; his sister-in-laws: Glenda Tanner; Addie Lou Lambertson; Penny Adams.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 in the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the ward chapel, or Saturday morning from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 A.M. prior to services.

Burial will be in the Lyman City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
