Johnsonville Column Monday evening: "Mr. John Weaver, an old and highly respected citizen, was interred in the Johnsonville cemetery. He was a member of the Wayne City Lodge of I.O.O.F. and was buried with full "Odd Fellow" honors. The Wayne City Lodge being out in good trim, considering the scattered condition of the members and the necessarily short notice of the same."
Obituary Turkey Point Column in Wayne County Press dated December 20, 1886: "J.S. Weaver died November 28th, after a long, lingering illness which he possibly contracted in the army. He made application for a pension many years ago, and at the time of his death it appears the pension department was trying to find out whether he had been in the army or not."
