CARIBOU – Alphie J. Belanger, 86, died Aug. 4, 2006, in Caribou. He was born Nov. 20, 1919, in North Caribou, the son of Amos and Anna (Cyr) Belanger. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in North Caribou for many years, and, after moving to Caribou, he was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where he served as a collector. Alphie worked in the farming industry until he was 78. After his retirement, he enjoyed driving around familiar farmlands with his camera close by, awaiting the opportunity to capture a picture of wildlife, and couldn’t wait to show his pictures off. He always enjoyed his visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed the artwork he received from them. During his stay at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Alphie enjoyed his visits from his loving wife and his family. He will be greatly missed by his family, which the Lord gave to him. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 58 years, Alfreda of Caribou; are one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Glenna Belanger of Winthrop; two daughters and sons-in-law, Corinna and Robert Caldwell of Caribou and Alverna and John Plourde of Hermon; one sister, Edna Weed of Arizona; three brothers, Clairmond Belanger of Caribou and Edgar Belanger and Roland Belanger, both of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Christopher Caldwell, Sheree Inman, Allison Fortier, Aaron Plourde and Jordan Belanger; four great-grandchildren, Abigail and Megan Caldwell and Alexandar and Nickolas Fortier; many nieces and nephews.
