Frank, his wife Daisy and their son, Donald Burge Ayers, Sr. came to Los Angeles from Ohio by train to Los Angeles in 1905. His intention was to scout out property for land development. He had no intention of making Southern California his permanent home. Frank purchased eight small ranches in the Mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles area for his Ohio employer. Frank then formed his own company, his family business in Los Angeles known as Frank H. Ayres & Son. That is still in operation under a different name and is now called Ayres Hotel Group. The company with his son Donald Burge Ayers, Sr., developed land throughout the Los Angeles County. Frank Ayres brand of high-quality development made its mark in Southern California.
