Married to Christian SORENSEN on January 12, 1858.~MRS. CHRISTENA SORENSEN DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS
MT. PLEASANT, March 10 -- Mrs. Christena SORENSEN died in this city, March 02, after an illness of only a few days, the cause being pneumonia. Funeral Services were held in the South Ward Chapel last Thursday. The speakers were C. C. E. Petersen, Peter Matson, Prest. C. N. Lund and Bishop James Larsen all of whom paid tribute to the character of the deceased.
Mrs. SORENSEN was born in Ailing, Denmark, August 27, 1835. At the age of 17 she joined the Church. She was married to Christian SORENSEN, January 12, 1858 and in company with her husband came to Utah the year following. Mrs. SORENSEN crossed the plains by hand cart. While her husband pulled the cart containing their scanty provisions, she walked and carried an infant in her arms from Omaha to Salt Lake valley. Se also passed through the hardships caused by the grasshopper raids and Indian wars.
The settled first at Mill Creek but later came to Mount Pleasant where she had resided ever since. She is survived by six children and a ___ of relatives and friends.
