With heavy hearts and thankful spirits, we rejoice in the knowledge that our beloved husband, precious father, and cherished Granddle and Daddo is safely home with Jesus.

Born August 11, 1926 in the Centerpoint Community, near Big Spring, Texas to Stephenson Rice and Edna Ola (Stalcup) Wilkinson, S R grew up in the R-Bar Community along with his four brothers and three sisters and attended Centerpoint School. He and his family attended Centerpoint Baptist Church where he was saved at the age of twelve.

S R was a veteran of WW II where he served his country in the U. S. Navy aboard the destroyer the USS Presley from 1943 to 1945 when he was honorable discharged.

He married Bobbie Oneta Mote in Loraine, Texas on August 5, 1946 and was happily married for 55 years.

S R and Bobbie resided in Colorado City, Texas where he worked for Texas Electric Service for 47 years. They attended First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and enjoyed preparing the Lord's Support for his church family.

S R, fondly known as "SAR", was so full of life up until his very last breath.

He loved gardening, swinging on the porch of his beloved country home and taking his grand kids for a ride on his tractor mower.

During a rains storm, he could often be found sitting in the car in the driveway, listening to the rain and thunder for hours on end.

He loved driving his gold and white 1975 Chevy Cheyenne pickup truck, and he especially loved revving up the "horses "for his grandchildren.

He enjoyed cooking for his family and often prepared his specialty- roast, mashed potatoes and fried okra.

He loved singing and Southern Gospel music, especially, the Gaithers.

He was an avid Texas Rangers fan and looked forward to attending an annual game for many years.

S R enjoyed coffee and good conversation and was somewhat of a gad about. He could often be seen visiting local businesses, sharing his humor and encouragement with everyone he met. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daily "coffee group" at First National Bank, Colorado City, Texas. He had a gentle, fun-loving spirit that will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

S R was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers, Hoy, Doc, Everett and James Wilkinson and sisters, Lola Brown, Almarene Jones and Theo Deel.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie of Levelland, Texas, daughter Lesa Gamble and husband, Guy, granddaughter, Lacey Casey and husband Brian and grandson, Chase Gamble, all of Abilene, Texas, daughter Laurie Osburn and husband, Jerry, grandson, Bradley Lowrance and wife Melanie, all of Levelland, Texas and granddaughter, Katelin Demel and husband, Bucky of Lubbock, Texas, as well as many adored nephews, nieces, cousins and life-long friends.

A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church, Colorado City, Texas on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm, with a private graveside service at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas
