Obituary

BLUE MOUNTAIN – James Lee Barkley, 91, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Tippah County Hospital Nursing Home in Ripley, Miss. He was born on September 15, 1923, to Luther and Clyde Lee Barkley in Tippah County. He was a farmer and a member of First United Methodist Church in Ripley.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mike Shearon officiating and the Rev. Jason Harms assisting. The eulogy will be given by Gary Dunnam. Burial will follow in Tippah Memorial Garden.
Visitation will be today, February 16, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, February 17, 2015, from 7 a.m. until service time at McBride Funeral Home.
Mr. Barkley is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Elam Barkley, Blue Mountain; one daughter, Glenda Thrasher (Johnny), Blue Mountain.; two granddaughters, Audra Steverson (Gregg), Laredo, Texas, Sonia Taylor (Robert), Blue Mountain; four great-grandchildren, Andi, Rob, and Alli Taylor and Joshua Steverson; one brother, Max Barkley (Helen), Ripley.; four sisters, Dot Booth, Scottsboro, Ala., Ann Shearon, Douglasville, Ga., Maxine Smith (Joe) and Jane Tisdale (Billy), both of Blue Mountain.; one sister-in-law, Maxine Barkley, Ripley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Carl Barkley.
Pallbearers will be Greg Barkley, Mark Shearon, Don Booth, Haston Cross, Brandon Rogers, Matthew Rogers, and Richard Todd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Morton, David Nance, Ralph Skinner, Ricky Martin, Ronnie Dunnam, Nelbert Lewellen, Robert Barkley.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 302 S. Main St., Ripley, MS 38663.
