Virginia Mae West, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 29, 2015, at the age of 92. She was born April 7, 1922 in Panaca, to Clyde and Amy Mathews. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno receiving a BA degree in education in 1943. Virginia then moved to Las Vegas, and began her career in the title and escrow business. She moved to Lake Havasu, Ariz. in 1986, returning to Las Vegas in 2013. Virginia was a member of many civic organizations throughout her life. She was an avid bridge player often participating in duplicate bridge tournaments and enjoyed boating and fishing. She traveled all over the United States and enjoyed visiting much of Europe. Virginia was passionate about keeping herself informed through newspapers, magazines and books. She was always reading a good murder mystery and enjoyed a nice glass of wine (or two) with family and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Amy Mathews; her brothers, Wendell Mathews and Ronald Mathews; her husbands, Thomas A. Campbell, Edward I. Lewis and Roy G. West; and companion, James Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Campbell Wright and her husband, John Wright; grandchildren, Megan Wright and Theodore Wright; nephew, Robert Mathews; and niece, Wendy Mathews Gilbert all of Las Vegas. Virginia was lovely, bright, and had a sharp sense of humor. Her life will be celebrated privately with her family and close friends. Contributions in Virginia's memory may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
