Marvin J. Wiederholt, 71, of Cherokee died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mr. Wiederholt was born Feb. 14, 1933, in rural Remsen, the son of Ben and Amanda (Schierholt) Wiederholt. He was raised in the Remsen area and graduated from Union High School in 1951. He was a truck driver and owned Marvie's Place in Granville, Iowa.

On Nov. 17, 1953, he married Agnes Schuver in Granville. He moved to Cherokee after their divorce in 1986. He retired from truck driving in 1995.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, camping and spending time with his dogs.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Randy and Dee of Lake View, Iowa; five daughters, Karen and her husband, Tom Pottebaum of Granville, Jeanne Swanson of Sioux City and her friend, Ron Dooley of Plattsmouth, Neb., Dianne "Dodie" and her husband, Steven Mooney of Hawkins, Texas, Linda and her husband, Don Nieland of Marion, Iowa, and Carmen and her husband, Jeff Donaldson of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Bernard and Elaine and Urban and Rita, all of Le Mars, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Helen Wiederholt of Le Mars and Blanche Wiederholt of Remsen; a brother-in-law, Frank Beckmann of Remsen; his special friend, Jerry Ruden of Cherokee and her sons, Shawn of Akron, Ohio, and Brian of Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ermine, Luverne, Leonard and Vitus; a sister, Verina Beckmann; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.
