Henry, as he was called, was was in the U.S. Life saving service which later became the U.S. Coast Guard. He had served a total of 30 years in which was originally the U.S. Liife saving service, so at some time he became a Coast Guardsman.
He went to The White River Life Saving Station at Montague, Mi. as Capt.of Life Saving Service in 1915. He was also a member of Montague Masonic Lodge # 98.
