Letta Mae Hooten, 83 of Marion, passed away on Aug. 12, 2011, at 7:40 a.m. at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service for Mrs. Hooten will be Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Father Richard Mohr officiating. There will be a time of gathering at 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Letta Mae was born March 6, 1928, in Ft. Madison, Iowa, to Louis and Marion (Hendricksmeir) Thurman. She married the love of her life, James L. “Jim” Hooten, on Oct. 19, 1946, in Ft. Madison, Iowa; he survives in Marion. They were about to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Hooten is survived by her loving husband and children, Leanne Thompson and husband Ralph, Dianne Segers and husband Greg, Michael James Hooten and wife Monina, all of Marion, Roxanne Powers and husband John of Apopka, Fla., and Kimberly Bondzinski and husband Mark of Des Plaines. Letta Mae is also survived by 15 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hooten is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Leroy.
Letta Mae was of the Catholic faith, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had a variety of hobbies and interests, including card games and crosswords, and was most invested in her children and household. Letta Mae is best remembered for her love of God, her family and sweet disposition. Her passing has brought her peace and everyone who knew her loved her for her kind-heartedness. She has gone to the Lord taking a piece of our hearts with her.
