Mary Lois Trigg Morehead was born May 11, 1919 to Cora Ethel Wells Trigg, and Daniel Robert Trigg in Salmon, Texas. She passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015, in Cartmell Home for Aged, Palestine, Texas at the age of 95. Lois was educated at Salmon and Elkhart schools. She married Willard Alton Morehead on September 2, 1936, in Houston, Texas after paying a friend $3.00 to take them to Alton’s sister’s house. To their surprise, due to being only 16 and 17, they had to have their parents signatures. Dan Trigg and Alvin Morehead went to Houston and signed the papers, thus a long-time marriage of 68 years began. Alton passed away in 2004. Lois was a homemaker most of her life, taking care of her husband, their three daughters and then her grandchildren. She served as director of the childcare center, at the First Baptist Church of Palestine, Tx., in the late seventies and early eighties. She loved to sew and have all of her family together.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband and all of her brothers and sisters. They were Oscar Trigg, Archie Trigg, Hayden Trigg, Gracie Lanell Trigg Easley, and Louise Trigg Brown. She had also lost her nephews Lionel Dodson and Robin Brown and niece Linda Easley Lamberth,

Services for Mrs. Morehead will be at Bailey & Foster Chapel, on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating. Burial will follow at Guiceland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Don Langston, Bernie Dodd, Bobby Jones, O.L. Grimsley, Dwain Harris, Jerry Brown, James Lamberth, Jerry Starkey and Ronny Bridges.
