JONESPORT - Hilda B. Peabody, 100, a lifelong resident of Jonesport, went to be with her Lord February 11, 2015, at a Machias hospital. She was born in Jonesport, August 21, 1914.
She worked, from the young age as a child, packing sardines in local factories. After they closed, she continued working with her husband Myron on their lobster boat. She was a member of the Jonesport Wesleyan Church. Then after being home alone, she enjoyed watching T.V. and doing crossword puzzles, and going shopping with her sister, Debora.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Myron; her mother, Flora (Groves); a daughter, Fay Merchant; a sister, Debora Foss; and a brother, Bud Foss.
She is survived by a son, Wayne Peabody and wife Winifred of Jonesport; grandchildren - Dana and wife, Carol of Columbia, Stephen and wife, Margaret of Addison, Timothy and wife, Annette of Jonesport, Michael Dorr of Columbia, Kim Dorr of Bangor, Bob Fraser and wife, Nancy, Bill Fraser and wife, Kathy, and Lawrence Fraser; great-grandchildren - Conrad, Patty, Christine, Joshua, Lindsey, Kristopher, Ashley and husband, Leland, Jesse, Corey, Erin, and Wesley; great-great-grandchildren - Zoe, Olivia, Shay, Conrad Jr, Samantha, Carrie, Dana, and Auril Jr.; a son-in-law, George Merchant; two nieces, Sheila Brookman and Shirley Wierman; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from at the Jonesport Wesleyan Church, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday.
Graveside services at Greenwood Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
