James A. Gray, Sr., age 85, of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born September 7, 1929 in Luthersburg, PA, he was the son of the late John R. & Kathleen (Shaffer) Gray.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

On June 2, 1951, he married H. Maxine (Lingenfelter) Gray. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2006.

Jim had worked at Kruk flooring in DuBois for 17 years and in that time became an expert tile and linoleum installer. After that, he worked at the DuBois Post Office for over 30 years and at the end of his retirement held the position of Window Clerk at the Brady Street location.

Jim was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. He was instrumental in the formation and development of the Brady Township Park and Recreation Association and served on the board for many years. He was also a member of the Brady Township Volunteer Fire Department, Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat Unlimited, and the Garfield Lodge Free and Accepted Masons #559.

He was a master craftsman and over the years had built houses for each of his four children. He enjoyed hunting with children, grandchildren, and friends at the Big A Camp. He was an avid birdwatcher and feeder. He also enjoyed sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan as well as a Penn State fan.

Jim is survived by two sons, James A. Gray, Jr. and his wife, Linda K. of Luthersburg, PA and Michael J. Gray and his wife, Linda D. of DuBois, PA, a daughter, Florie Ciamacco and her husband, Michael of Curwensville, PA, a daughter in law, Cathy Gray of Delmont, PA, 10 grandchildren (Stacey Nist and her husband, Jeffrey; Jamison Gray and his wife, Michelle; Jennifer Gray; Josie Georgiana and her husband, Chris; Michael Gray and his wife, Brittany; Mickey Ciamacco and his wife, Melissa; Heather Kelly and her husband, Michael; Lindsay Schaffer and her husband, J.T.; Denielle Gray; and Max Ciamacco and his wife, Cammy), 17 great grandchildren, two sisters, Ruthie Srock and her husband, Ralph of Luthersburg, PA and Betty Blake of Newark, DE, a brother, Fred Gray and his wife, Delores of Luthersburg, PA, a sister in law, Marion Gray of Luthersburg, PA, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his best buddy, Droopy.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis R. Gray, a brother, Robert W. Gray, and a sister, Dorothy Hibner.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2014 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2014 at 1 P.M. from the Goble Baronick Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Howe officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded from the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Luthersburg Union Cemetery.
