LODI - Martha Moser Nickels Butcher of Lodi died March 1, 2006 at the age of 98.
Funeral services were held March 7, 2006 at Gierhart-Wells-Donahue Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Duerr of Zion Reformed Church officiating. Committal was in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Martha was born in Sutton NE on March 4, 1907 to John and Christina Moser. She attended rural school for the first eight years and then graduated from Sutton High School, majoring in "Normal Training." She attended Nebraska University to obtain her extra teacher's credentials. She taught at Stapleton for two years and finished her teaching career at the Blue School in York County and District #1, Clay County near Sutton in 1929.
In 1959, they relocated to Lodi and he died in 1972.
She married Albert Butcher on May 22, 1982
She was a member of Women's Club, serving in many officer positions.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; brothers, John, Peter, Ted, Jacob, William, Edward, Henry and Ervin Moser; sisters, Christine, Rosalina and Vera Moser, Elizabeth Zimbelman, Sophia Klein and Sara Clemings.
