Emma Jane Bain was born on November 11, 1925 in Bellefonte, Arkansas. She was the daughter of John Bug Ruble and Gertrude Frances Hubbard. Mr. Ruble worked for the Rock Island Railroad in Arkansas which resulted in several moves up and down the Railroad line. Jane graduated from Brinkley High School at the top of her class. After graduation, she worked for a year to save money to go to Central College for two years. Years later, she attended Lamar University to complete her Bachelors degree, again earning scholastic honors. Jane married John H. Bain on September 2, 1946. The couple lived in Austin, Port Arthur-Groves, and San Antonio,Texas. She was a very successful music teacher. She sang in church choirs wherever she lived. Jane and her husband enjoyed traveling and, upon retirement, were members of Air Stream groups traveling throughout the United States. Jane moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1991 to be near her two sisters after the death of her husband in 1989. She spent over twenty years in North Little Rock before moving to League City because of failing health where she could be near her eldest son. She moved to Serenity Gardens in May of 2014 where she passed into eternal life on February 10, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Walters Funeral home in Centerville, Texas. Rev. James Cord will officiate the service and interment will follow in the Centerville Cemetery. Jane was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Lera Ruth Merritt. She is survived by her three children, John H. Bain Jr. and wife, Frances, Janice R. Cord and husband, James, and Jeffrey N. Bain; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Freddie Ann Grimmett (Fort Smith Arkansas) and other family and friends. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
