Dorothy Jane Eitelgeorge, 76, peacefully passed away on February 9, 2015. She was born on March 1, 1938 in Pocatello, Idaho. Much of her childhood years were spent in Idaho but she lived the last 65 years of her life in Manteca. She married, as she would often say, “a dime among nickels”, Charles Eitelgeorge, in September of 1962. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
She received her Sociology degree at Brigham Young University and later received a credential to teach special education. She taught two years of school and then became a homemaker which was her great desire and such a blessing to her family. Through her great faith, she gave birth to four children after having been told by her doctor that there was little chance of having any.
Dorothy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she honored many callings given her throughout the years. Some of her favorites were working with the youth, teaching, and serving as a leader at Girl’s Camp. She was a very devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. She had a genuine love for and relationship with her Savior.
Dorothy was a real “shutterbug”. Taking pictures of her loved ones was a favorite hobby of hers. She also enjoyed organizing and putting them in albums for all to enjoy. One of her greatest joys was being a grandma, a desire she had since she was a young girl. Other talents she shared with others were pantomiming, storytelling, drawing cartoons, playing the ukulele, giving wonderful counsel and encouragement, and singing in the choir and to her children.
She had many health challenges throughout her life. But in all of this she was a great example of patience, endurance, and constant caring for her family, friends, and for all with whom she came in contact. She had the amazing ability to make everyone feel as though they were her favorite. Family was her greatest treasure in life. Dorothy always had a smile and a ready hug to give!
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Charles, and her three living children: Bill, Jani and Laurel. Dorothy is now reunited with her daughter, Ellen Eitelgeorge, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her 15 grandchildren who dearly love her.
She is also survived by her brothers David, Tom and Denny Crockett.
Our sweet angel, Dorothy, will be sincerely missed by all. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14th, at 11:00 a.m., Northland L.D.S. Chapel, Manteca. Final resting place will be at Park View Cemetery.
