Irene Phyllis McMurry, 80, Blue Springs, MO, passed away Monday, May 8, 2006 at Research Medical Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11 at the Park Lawn Chapel; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to her church, Calvary Baptist Church, or to the American Cancer Society. Irene was born August 2, 1925, in Fordland, MO, and had lived most of her life in the Kansas City area. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and had worked as an Executive Secretary at Parmelee Industries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry C. and Rena Denney Bookout, and her husband, Hersel D. McMurry. She is survived by two children and their spouses, Andrew J. and Andrea McMurry, Kansas City, MO, and Malinda A. and Lyn Gamelson, Temecula, CA; brother, Darrell Bookout, Springfield, MO; three sisters, Izola Nobel, Seneca Falls, NY, Ruth Hemmer, Cincinnati, OH, and Vivian Chauvin, Misssion, KS; five grandchildren, Kristin Aguirre, Jamie and Stephen McMurry, Emily and Erik Gamelson; and five great grandchildren.
