Scot E. Akers, 37, of Jonesboro died Friday, June 18, at his residence.
Born and raised in Kennett, Mo., he moved to Jonesboro in 1986. He was an officer with the Jonesboro Police Department and attended Southwest Church of Christ. He had received a degree as a medical laboratory technologist and was ASCP certified.
Survivors include his wife, Shelly Akers of the home; two daughters, Brooke Akers and Caitlin Akers, both of the home; his mother, Nancy Akers of Memphis; two sisters, Stephanie Lee of Memphis and Amy Andrews of Barrie, Ontario, Canada; his paternal grandmother, Neldan Akers of Piggott; and his maternal grandmother, Ora B. Terry of Kennett.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Akers.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Mike Martin and Jimmy Adcox officiating. A eulogy will be given by Sgt. Cooper Taylor of the JPD. A committal service will follow at 1 p.m. in Memorial Gardens in Kennett.
The JPD Honor Guard will serve as active pallbearers. Members and officers of the JPD will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
