Mr. Eual C. “Pinky” Anderson, age 99, died on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and the United States Navy having served in World War II. After the war, he returned to Statesboro, finding work with Boyd’s Furniture Store and later Boyd’s Construction. Mr. Anderson worked for the post office in Statesboro for seven years; he then became the postmaster in Register in 1965 retiring in 1984. He was instrumental in getting the new post office building in Register.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Aaron and Elizabeth Anderson; two sisters Mamie Lou Batson and Alice Lillian Salter; two brothers Henry Garland Anderson and John Wilton Anderson; a nephew Garland Anderson.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years Charlotte Ketchum Anderson of Register; a son Edward C. Anderson of Johnson City, TN; a daughter Elizabeth Anne Anderson of Register; three nephews Johnny Salter, Jim Anderson, Tommy Anderson and Garland Anderson; one niece Ellen Murray.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

The graveside funeral service and burial with military honors will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with Elder Jack Anderson officiating.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
