Frank Elbert Kuhn (1898-1937)
Bert was a blacksmith. Bert died March 15, 1944, in Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois. Following is a transcription of his obituary from the March 16, 1944 edition of the Freeport Journal-Standard:
John A. Kuhn
John A. (Bert) Kuhn, 67, passed away at his home, 1604 South Walnut avenue, Wednesday. Although in ill health for several years, he died suddenly, having been about the home during the day.
He was born March 24, 1876, at Damascus, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Kuhn. June 2, 1898, he was married to Elizabeth Hogan, who survives, as do a half-sister, Mrs. Malrovas, and two granddaughters, Marian and Dorothy Kuhn, all of Freeport. His parents, a son, Frank E. Kuhn, and a sister, Mrs. Fetzer, preceded him in death.
For 18 years Mr. Kuhn has been employed as a blacksmith at the Henney Buggy company plant. He was a member of the North American Union.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Walker mortuary. Rev. Edwin Arends, of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Friends may call at the mortuary this evening.
Lizzie died in 1966.
