In the fall of 1872, the Joseph W. Prindle family was sharing "Mott Springs" with the family of John B. Bennett. When Mr. Prindle went away to work on the railroad and when he came home, his wife Lizzie told him "Bennett won't let us have no more water out of Mott Spring." Joseph Prindle took his gun off of the wall and went over to Bennet's house to confront him. After a very heated argument, Prindle turned to go back down the hill to Mott's Spring. When he was almost to the foot of the hill south of Motts Spring, he was shot in the back by Bennett and fell dead. The constable took Bennet to Judge J.L. "Dutch" Stafford's house. The Prindle family buried him in the front yard of their cabin which was about 200 yards north of Mott Springs. They mounded the grave with rocks. In the 1960s-1970s a small lane was built through there and the grave rocks were scattered. The Prindle grave is abt. 40 ft south of what is left of the cabin foundation, near south fence but in roadway area. Few Rocks remain.
