On January 2, 2002, my uncle, Donald L. "Rock" Brown, while surrounded by family and friends, passed away from cancer. He was only 53 yrs old. He was born on October 5, 1948, in Burgettstown, PA., a son of the late Henry Tomblin and Sara Ann Brown. Uncle Rock was a custodian at Bayer Corp. in Imperial, PA. He was a member of Hooverson Heights Church of the Nazarene in Follansbee, WV. and New Hope Church of God in Burgettstown, PA. He is survived by his wife, of 16 years, Deborah M.(Bennett)Brown. Also surviving are his children Donald L. Jr., of Dallas, PA., Leslie Cole(Nizam) and Twila Pond (Scott) both of Burgettstown, and Brandon at home along with one grandson Derek. Uncle Rock has left several other grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, to mourn his passing. He is survived by his twin brother Ronald E. Brown Sr., and brothers Robert, Bill, Ralph. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his brother James.
My Uncle was really one of a kind, he was a very true friend, loyal and kind. He was a wonderful story teller. I remember many a night sitting outside chatting until the birds sang, and mostly the feeling like we had been in conversation for minutes not hours. He made all things special, he was loved and admired by many. The pastor summed it up real well when at his funeral service he said "As I approached the funeral home today, my first thought was that I must be at the wrong place, because surely with all the people spilling out of the funeral home, this must be a funeral for a dignitary, maybe a mayor or other official, not just for this simple working man that I am here to provide services for this afternoon. Then I remembered who that man was. Each time I visited the hospital to visit with Rock, I had to work my way through the crowd of family, and close friends, to reach his side. Every time he was waiting patiently, proudly, smiling and honored to see another friend. Well I was honored too."

I miss you Uncle Rock, much love, Andrea, and like you "I believe"

I will try to update the bio as soon as possible some info is missing such as his sisters name.
