Edna Earle Tuck Garce, born on September 30, 1915, in Russellville Arkansas to parents, Eva Jane Lemley & General Bolar Tuck. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at CopperRidge Care Center in West Jordan, Utah.
She married Elbert H Garce in San Francisco, California and were later sealed together in the Cardston Alberta LDS Templs.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband Elbert H. Garce, her brothers John Tuck, Brown Tuck (Lucille), sisters Pauline Bartlett (Covey), Hazel Boland (Will), Ruth Reed (Bill), and Virginia Leopoldus (Hank).
Edna is survived by her 2 daughters & 1 son, as well as nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Arkansas, then after her marriage to Elbert was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an active member until her passing.
She was proud of her heritage, legacy and patriotic service with ancestors from England and France. She was resourceful, and prudent; she was fun loving and was a loving person, and beloved by those who knew her. She was guileless.
Edna loved to garden, preserve her harvest, quilt and take care of her family and grandchildren.
Edna loved animals including, Baby, Snowball, Pepi, Cindy Lu, Gracie and Blue, Roger and Sugar.
A particular challenge she laughingly faced, was teaching a class of children, where 80% of them only spoke Spanish, and she only spoke English.
Camping was never a favorite activity of hers since the air mattress always went flat, but nevertheless she would go just to be with her family. She took care of her brothers and sisters, which involved long trips to California, Colorado and Arkansas.
She worked her way to achieve a higher education degree from Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, Oklahoma with help from her parents and sisters.
Edna taught junior high school until her children came along, then, stayed at home to raise them. After the children were in school, she returned to teaching in elementary schools until her retirement in 1970, then she and Elbert moved to Smithfield in Cache Valley Utah. They lived there until health concerns lead them to South Jordan where they lived with their daughter Mary, until Elbert died in 2002. Edna remained with Mary until she moved to an assisted living and care facility until her death.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at the Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, in West Jordan, Utah.
